Hey Girl,
So I heard that you're busting your booty, but not seeing the results that you want. Usually when it comes to our fat loss journey, it is just a matter of tweaking one or two things to make a huge difference.
Here are the top five reasons why you're not losing fat:
1. You're The Cardio Queen
You either were told that you need to do lots of cardio in order to lose fat, or when you first started you just hopped on a treadmill because it was the only thing that you knew how to do. I get it! The problem with cardio is that it is strictly a calorie burn, and doesn't discriminate. That means when you do a lot of cardio it burns fat and muscle from your body, leaving you with a deflated look rather than the tight and toned look that you want. You want your main focus with working out to be weight training. This will increase your muscle mass, decrease your body fat percentage and it will help you maintain the look you want long term! (Plus it's wayyy more fun than cardio!)
2. You're Winging Your Nutrition
You switched out fast food and added a lot of fruit and vegetables. And while that will help you see results in the beginning, and it is a GREAT change, there is so much more that you need to focus on with your nutrition. Most people have no idea how little or how much they are eating everyday. Learning the calories, fats, protein, and carbs that you need for your body's daily functioning and for your fitness goals will help you get control of your fat loss and teach you a lot about food in the process.
3. Your Workouts Are No Longer Challenging
As you grow in your journey you become better and stronger. You're endurance and strength are increasing, and the workouts that you start with in the beginning won't challenge you anymore. Progress requires challenging your body and keeping your workouts intense. Make sure that as you progress in your journey that you are increasing your weights, and adding in new exercises that challenge you in new ways.
4. You're Not Eating Enough Protein
Get your protein! If you are a current or past client of mine you know that I preach this like I'm a pastor on Sunday. Getting enough protein in your diet is crucial when it comes to fat loss. It not only helps you build lean muscle, it also boosts your metabolism. This is a major key when it comes fat loss and to building the tight and toned body that you want.
5. Your Weekends Are A Free-For-All
You NAIL your workouts and nutrition Monday - Friday, but then the weekend comes and it all goes out the window. Girl, I know it feels like calories are free on the weekends but they aren't. Make sure that when you are on this journey you are working to create a lifestyle, something that you can maintain long-term through every day of the week. A huge part of this is finding balance in your nutrition. Make sure you get the foods that you need to nourish your body and to reach your goals, but also have room in your plan to enjoy some yummy foods and drinks with your girls on the weekends!
Whatever reason it was for you that was stalling your fat loss, apply what you learned here and you will be on fire!
